Since we are down to only 2 more weekends left in SoCal, sweetie and I decided to take a trip down to Huntington Beach. Not only does HB have the coolest Dog Beach, but they also have the best hamburger shack I have found in this state. Of course I forgot my camera. I'm not very good at remembering that thing!
It was sunny and warm in Torrance when we left the house. I actually went back in and put some sun block on. By the time we got to HB it was over cast, but still pretty nice. Plus the waves were fairly decent.... so there were a lot of people watching to be had.
We started at TK's Burgers. I was a little worried about trying to eat in public with our puppy. She is a little hyper and likes to greet and jump on every one and every dog we see. Her daddy lovingly calls her psycho, but I have been working hard with her on our walks and figured we could handle all the distractions. Plus we got a new gentle leader head collar a couple of weeks ago, which has been a big help. I picked a nice bench on the sidewalk in front of TK's and by the time sweetie came out with the burgers puppy was just laying nicely on the grass next to me. Hardly even noticing the people. She was a good girl. I knew she had it in her!
heehee She's snoring on the couch next to me now. We must have worn her out today.
After lunch we went for a nice walk on the dog beach. Puppy does not quite get the concept of listening to us when we call her. Most of the time, is she even acknowledges hearing her name, its just with a glance back and then continuing on her way. So we have to keep her on leash at the beach. Its kind of sad because you can tell she just wants to run and chase like every one else.... but I know she will get it eventually and will have plenty of time to run free. We even made some good strides on the swimming front. Usually she does everything she can to not go near any of the water, but today she even followed me in a few feet. She still does not seem to really like the water, and the waves scare her though. Of course even the little waves are mid chest for her. I don't like waves that big either!
It was a nice California day. I know I will miss days like this mid-March in Indiana!
